Miss Singapore Beauty Pageant 2016: Press Conference

Hey Everyone!

ERM has allowed me to come on board the Miss Singapore Beauty Pageant 2016 and I'm pretty excited! This time, the pageant contestants are around MY age and technically, I could participate but, none of that for me, I'd rather be blogging and vlogging away at these events!

The overexposed screen.

Anyway, I should mention that this year, they've decided to focus on the health and fitness of their contestants rather than having all contestants look stick thin. I think this is really brilliant because I admit - I'm very conscious of my body, though I'm not as obsessed with body image anymore, I personally want to lose some weight to look good on screen and on stage.

I figured this would be pretty interesting for me as part of the audience as well. Perhaps I'd be able to grow along with these girls as well.

And here are the sponsors!

MAKI-SAN IS LIFE

And there were other foods of course!

Which I didn't get to eat because I was rushing off for a shoot :'(

So the Press Conference was held at Orchid Country Club!

I realised they do love pictures a lot HAHAHA

What's this? *waves*

Lynette's our MC?! ^^ Good to see you again Lynette!

In case you're wondering, she was crowned Mrs Singapore Universe 2016 earlier this year! Blogpost for their finals can be found here

Rachel Koh, the chairperson for this year!

THE EXCITEMENT IS REAL!!!!!!

So we have a folder given to us with some interesting things about the contestants, so since that was done, why not share it with you guys so you can also start rooting for your favourite?! Right? Right?!

Yes, okay, let's get on with it.

Contestant No. 1 Tania Tan

So this petite lady here's a freelance actress (high five girl, I feel you) and has also taken part in previous pageants and contests. Also, she's pretty involved with community works, performing in major events like the SEA Games, Asean Para Games and National Day Parade 2015. By joining the pageant, she hopes to have a positive impact on society as well as creating the awareness of the true meaning of pageants - it's not all about beauty, but the support of both inner and outer beauty.

HAving spent so much time with her grandparents, she acknowledges the importance of caring for the elderly, thus spending her free time volunteering at old folks homes. In hope of making her grandparents proud as well as shining a light on beauty pagents being about the mind, heart and soul, she embarks on her journey with the pageant.

Having struggled with Crohn's disease in her earlier years, Lovelle has grown into a more beautiful and stronger person. Despite having to endure the various hardships of recovery, she has bravely taken the leap of faith to stand on stage this year and embrace her insecurities. Having conquered the illness, she hopes to let people know that there is always light at the end of the tunnel, and you can embrace the facts to grow stronger, or get stuck in the pool of misery.

She says 'I hope that more and more people can lend a helping hand to others as there is still many people in need of our help. I believe that the more we contribute the better our society will become.'

Contestant No. 11 Jolyn Ng

Who would think she used to be a nerdy girl in school? Having had hiccups with her self-confidence due to the unforgiving effects of puberty, she did not give up hopes of becoming a model or joining a pageant. Now with more confidence and having joined a few other pageants prior to Ms Singpaore 2016, she wishes to help to raise funds to purchase healthier convenience food for the less privileged people.

Ms Singapore being her very first beauty pageant, she simply wishes to achieve a sense of fulfilment. Apart from learning more about herself, establishing new relationships and opening windows to various opportunities, she wishes to be able to represent Singapore and spread the message that 'after all the struggles and hard work, there will always be a positive outcome in life. A moment of neglect is a lifetime of regrets".

Unfortunately, two of the other contestants were not able to be at the press conference, so no photos or bios of them in this blogpost. But no matter, we will meet them eventually! Just wait till next week's blogpost because, you will see the missing two. Hehe.

Moving back on track..

Right after the contestants introduced themselves, we got a sneak peak of some talent items. I won't spoil yesterday's  Talent and Fashion show, you guys can follow me on snapchat (@chinaphilidoll) for sneaks, but you guys have to wait for next week's post to find out more!

Lovelle

Lynn

Jeslyn

Priscilla

Those were pretty nice to watch. I personally enjoyed Priscilla's performance, probably because it really stood out for me and she looked like she was really comfortable on stage.

Did you think that was it?

HECK NO!

We need to have a fitness challenge because skinny isn't pretty and healthy is sexy. So, the contestants were challenged to plank for as long as they could!

That's right. PLANK.

Incase you guys are wondering, yes, this girl won the challenge.

Congratulations Gladys, all that gymming has definitely paid off. I'm inspired to hit the gym now because planking for a minute is enough to make me sob.

Ain't nothing like a group photo at a press conference!

I told you they like group photos.

YAY MORE PHOTOS MORE MORE!

I'm clearly getting carried away here. Anyway, I thought I should take this opportunity to thank ERM Marketing for inviting me yet again, I'm growing very very attached to everyone and I'm not even sorry.

Also, I know I would usually vlog these things but I decided to combine this entire journey into one super massive long vlog for you guys and hopefully you guys enjoy that. I'm not sure about how that will turn out just because it's not my usual style of vlogging but hey, school is starting and I figured a collective vlog of this entire journey would be fun. So, let me know what you guys think by commenting on the video when it does come out. I'm not telling you when it's going to come out but I will tell you that school has started *insert bashful emoji*.

Anyhow, I hope you guys have enjoyed this blogpost and I hope you guys will be looking forward to the vlog and the other blogposts about the pageant. I feel like I could be a pageant genius sooner or later and all the more I'd want to blog about them because they're slowly becoming very very interesting to me. Plus like I said, I'm slowly growing pretty attached to the people at ERM. I'm going to end the blogpost here and I'll see you guys in my next one!
