Macau Day 1: Initiation

Hello everyone!

So if you've been following me on twitter and instagram, you would have known that I'm in Macau right now.

I figured that I'd do a little daily update while I'm here since I'll only be staying here for 4 days! It's my very first time in Macau and so far I'm quite enjoying myself. People are generally nice and I've done a little shopping already, but I'll do another blogpost next week about everything that I've bought!

And my adventure in Macau begins.

So we took Tiger Airways to Macau. Honestly I didn't expect my flight to be comfortable. Budget airlines are known to have really narrow seats and trust me, they do, but I was rather comfortable on today's flight. Perhaps it was because I was just so tired and that the plane wasn't exactly full. Just to put the fact our there: I absolutely hate plane rides.

The premiere lounge feat. Grandpa

Dad got a few extra things added into our flight package to make things a lot more comfortable for Grandpa (and the rest of us). I must say I really had a good airport experience this time. Having a mediocre brunch at the premiere lounge at T2, getting boarded first onto the plane, getting through the immigration at a special counter. I was pretty impressed by what paying a little more could do to your travel experience.

Did I mention we also had someone pick us up from the airport?

Clearly my dad is cooler than anyone else's. ;) But yeah everything was hassle free thanks to the arrangements my dad made! We reached Macau around 4ish so by the time we checked in and settled down we had to head down to dinner at the Bamboo Cafe just outside the casino (which I am too young to enter.. my age is a burden)

I didn't snap any photos at dinner today since it was a buffet plus I was so hungry!! Food at the buffet was pretty good actually. There was quite a fair range of various cuisines; Thai, Jap, Chinese and Korean. They didn't really tap into the western styles which was a shame, but at the same time it's not like I'd be able to stomach it all anyway. I'm stuffed! Especially with desserts because I have a shameless sweet tooth.

For those seafood lovers out there.. You would definitely adore the spread of fresh seafood. Prawns, crabs, snails (not sure why those were amongst the seafood) and a lot of other stuff that I did not see. I don't fancy seafood but clearly everyone else, including my parents, were loving the seafoods.

The after dinner stroll.

As quite a few of you would have guessed, my mum and I went shopping and dad accompanied grandpa to the casino. The shops are pretty much what you can find in Orchard Road, at least, the higher end bunch. But in a much prettier setting.

All that detail!

There are a few things that are probably not in Singapore, I didn't exactly go through every single shop yet. It's quite a massive community of shops since it links two or three hotels together. I was just too fascinated by the whole design of the interiors.

It's a little confusing to get around, but with the help of a map and a bit of broken mandarin, mum and I managed to get around. I'd very much like to have a ride on the Gondola and have them sing to me in their intense operatic voices. Plus I figured it'd give me a nice angles to take a few more photos of the decorations. Heh.

Time for a mini room tour!

So if you don't follow me on instagram (@chinaphilidoll), you can view my few-second-long room tour! But if you don't have instagram or you don't fancy fast moving videos, here are a few snaps of the hotel room!

Bathroom shot!

Firstly, I'd like to emphasise on how beautiful the bathroom is. It even has a vanity corner! It's the first thing you'd see when you come into the room, plus it's pretty bright as well. I love the marble floor though it's really really cold (duh).

The thing I love most about the bathroom.. The intricate mirrors.

The 'Bed area' Feat. yours truly.

So of course I'm sharing rooms with me parents, and grandpa has an entire room to himself. I took the bed on the right because I like my corners. I was half tempted to push my bed to the very side of the wall but since it's a queen sized bed I'm leaving it as it is. Plus, the decorations are just breathtaking.

The bed is so soft and comfortable! Really loving the pillows, they're my fave sort, though I'm not entirely sure what type they are , feathers/ memory foam/ foam, though I'm guessing feathers since mine at home's a feather pillow and it feels the same.

The 'living room' area feat. Mum

So our living room area is massive. The green sofa actually doubles up as a sofa bed which is AMAZING. I'm not a fan of the view but that's okay since I probably won't be staring out the window anytime soon. But yeah, it's just a really really cozy place!

For now, some red wine to end the night.

Basically, the room is just really really amazing in general so it's been a really great day for me and I'm just getting ready to sleep right after I've finished blogging, replying an email or two and perhaps preparing the clothes I'm gonna wear tomorrow. So till tomorrow's update, toodly doo!
