Mrs & Classic Mrs Singapore Chinatown 2018 Grand Finals

Hello Everyone!

Now that the year is coming to an end, I think it's great that I've spent my December blogging for not one, but two pageants! The Little Ms & Mr Tampines 2018 pageant was fun, but I think the Mrs Singapore Chinatown 2018 pageant probably takes the cake for me this year! I actually had a fantastic time especially during the finals on Saturday.

If you didn't see my blogpost and vlog for their Talent and Cooking segments, here are the links!

Now that you're up to speed, let's dive right into the blogpost for the grand finals!

Beautiful gown by Alelux Luxury Gown Rental!
(thank you for this photo Herbert!)

Just so give a rough idea to everyone, the theme for tonight was Shanghai Glam! If you saw my instagram stories while I was at Alelux, I did try on quite a few gowns, but a lot of people said this was a great fit for the theme, so I didn't need to think much!

Truth be told, I should have planned a contingency a little better because it fit me well in the shop and when I got home, but on Saturday, it was a tad bit loose, and I was constantly worried I was going to have a wardrobe malfunction, but thank goodness, I didn't! It was also my first time in a gown with a train, so it was definitely and experience for me!!! A massive MASSIVE thank you to Alelux!

Of course, I took as many photos as I could! Here, with Priscillia and Adeline!
(photo taken by Priscillia's hubby!)

All three dresses are from Alelux, you can find them on both instagram and facebook! They have so many beautiful gowns to chose from, it's mindblowing every time I walk into the shop!

With Sumini, Priscillia and Christine!
(photo from Sumini!)

With Walter and Chris!
(def should have angled myself better but I had dress problems to think about)

And let the night begin!

As always, it was held at the Grand Ballroom at Orchid Country Club!

Our Hosts: Gerald and Shannon!

Followed by a speech by Ms Angela Tay (Managing Director of ERM)

And a few words by our Guest of Honour:
Professor Fatimah Lateef (MP for Marine Parade GRC)

We then had a performance by our Queens!

Yes, they were both singing and dancing!

In all the pageants that I have blogged for, I have never seen the queens perform on stage together before! Of course, there are more ERM queens than the ladies on stage, but having so many queens on stage performing together was just very fun for me to watch! Plus, I LOVE the feather fans.

All in their gorgeous qipaos!

It was so fit for the theme (which was even more exciting) and it was just somewhat, magical to see ladies in crowns performing on stage because they've been through their pageant journeys and more! It was just fun and inspiring!

I was so entertained by their performance and it really set the mood for me!

Also, on a fun side note, so many of my followers have messaged me on instagram saying that it was mindblowing to see so many crowns at a time. Which had me thinking, I was so used to seeing all these beauty queens, and I remembered I wanted a sparkly crown for myself when I first started blogging for pageants, but I knew I couldn't do a pageant myself, and I'm very much happy blogging for the pageants, so I'd gladly stick to being the pageant blogger!

Alright, with that aside, we moved on to the top 4 contestants from the talent round! They would be showcasing their talent one last time before one of them would be awarded Best in Talent!

Contestant No. 6: Huangli

I don't know if there's a formal name for the type of dance she does, but I'm quite sure the peacock Dance its a sort of Chinese folk dance. Nonetheless, it was always very nice to watch, even during the talent round, I enjoyed every minute of her performance!

Contestant No. C1: Carine Lee

She definitely had a lot of fun on stage! I'm honestly very impressed by her energy on stage, she didn't look tired at all and it was just constant high energy all the way! I did wish that she chose a different costume from the talent round, since it was the finals!

Contestant No. C6: Zhang Xiu Xun

I was the most excited about her performance tonight. A different costume is always a fun change, and a differnet routine as well. I also managed to get way better photos of her performance this time and I am so happy! Hers was my personal favourite performance of the night for sure, I love dances like this because the technique is just so hard to master!

Contestant No. C9: Kelly Mok

I think anyone would be amazed to see a 64 year old doing a little chair dance, but would be even more mindblown to know she can kick pretty high! I'm amazed by the flexibility she has at her age and it's a reminder for me to get off my butt and keep moving so I can still dance when I'm 60!

After the 4 of them performed their items, the contestants came back up on stage showcasing pieces by Amanda Fashion Gallery!

And it was time to giveaway some subsidiary awards!

I didn't manage to take that many photos and I didn't take photos over every single on of them as well. I didn't really want to stand up because I was worried of having a little 'accident' so I did what I could from my seat (which, thankfully was pretty decent) but of course, that meant I got blocked almost 50% of the time by people who were walking around or standing up at the table in front :')

Congratulations ladies!

Contestant No. 8: Sheryl Koh
Contestant No. 6 Huangli
Contestant No. 9 Ruby Lee
Contestant No. 7 Irene Soh
Contestant No. 5 Sandra Wee

And then, we have the Q&A!

Since it was Mrs Chinatown, it didn't really occur to me that some of the Q&A would be in chinese (though I think it was probabbly just at the back of my head). So of course, I didn't understand what they were all saying completely, but the emcees were great with translating, and telling us the jists of everything!

Contestant No. C5: Lincy Kwan

Contestant No. C8: Juliana Lim

Contestant No. C4: Helen He

Contestant No. C9: Kelly Mok

Contestant No. C1: Carine Lee

Contestant No. C3: Jovine Richter

Contestant No. 8: Sheryl Koh

Contestant No. 7 Irene Soh

Contestant No. 9 Ruby Lee

Contestant No. 6 Huangli

Contestant No. 5 Sandra Wee

I think everyone did pretty well in general for the Q&A, some spoke of providing education, providing for the elderly, and as well as people who suffer from domestic abuse. Some spoke of creating the awareness of early detection of cancer as well as encouraging others to sign up as volunteers.

I particularly remember one of the contestants (I think it was Helen) being asked who inspired her the most, and she mentioned her son had inspired her the most to be a better person, which I thought was very nice!

There was also a question (I think this was Ruby's question) about what would be essential to a woman's success, and if I'm not wrong, she said something along the lines of being ambitious and brave enough to chase her dreams, which inspired me because it's never easy to chase your dreams for sure!

Another one that stuck to me was when Irene answered 'Happiness for everybody, because there would be less conflicts and with less conflicts, everyone would live harmoniously together' I actually forgot what the exact question was but I thought this was such a simple and straightforward answer! Yet, I personally think it was a pretty good answer because honestly, if everyone was content with what they had, it would definitely minimise the conflicts that have occured in the past, or are happening right now.

And then we had a lovely guest performance while waiting for the results!

AND NOW, THE MOMENT WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!!!

A massive congratulations to the new queens!
